CAR SALES HELP POOR

PORTION OF AUDI SALES FUND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

By Alicia Doyle

A downtown family is getting a new home, and, at the same time, Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi Motors are moving into their new 100,000 square foot home at 1900 S. Figueroa St.

The Shammas Group is spearheading the Habitat for Humanity gift of a new house in conjunction with Audi’s project “Cars for Homes.”

Audi of Downtown L.A., part of the Shammas Group, has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to donate a portion of every Audi sale to the agency which builds homes for the poor. The program continues through Sun., April 23.

Darryl Holter, Windsor Square, is CEO of the Shammas Group dealership founded by his father-in-law the late Nicholas Shammas.

Holter is also founding chairman of the Figueroa Corridor which, since its beginning eight years ago, has seen more than $1.5 billion in public, nonprofit and private investment in the area.

Jeanette Shammas, widow of the founder, received a “Crystal Rose” sculpture from Audi executive Johan De Nysschen at the press confer-ence announcing the cooperative effort.

In addition to the sales donations, Audi is donating $25,000 to help Habitat for Humanity raffle a new Audi A-3.

Audi is also displaying a 1937 F7 DKW racing car and Audi Motorsport’s RB—six-time winner of the American Le Mans Series and five-time winner of the Le Mans in the new showroom.
