HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOSTS GARDEN PARTY

The Windsor Square-Hancock Park Historical Society hosted a Garden Party on Sunday, April 25. The annual tour featuring seven private gardens will help pay for a greening project at John Burroughs Middle School. The event was held in honor of Margaret Hudson for her work in improving green space throughout the community.


THE GARDEN at a Craftsman-style home on Ridgewood Pl. (left) features an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, raised vegetable beds and a bench surrounding a palm tree.


KING PALMS thrive both inside and outside the courtyard walls of a Spanish Colonial home on N. June St.


SUCCULENTS, FERNS, large gingers, aloes and variegated pittosporum appear in combination in the lush backyard at the colorful Villa Ajubar, on S. McCadden Pl.


THE BACKYARD of this home on S. Hudson Ave. has served as a setting for three weddings as well as two fundraisers for Childrens Chain. Near the patio off the rear of the house are Cecile Brunner climbing roses and clematis. Photos by Mary E. Nichols
